The unusually long period of dry weather is placing significant stress on the course. We are irrigating greens and tees each night between 10 pm and 4:30 am with some 105,000 litres of water from the stream which is our maximum capacity. This is then being followed up with hand watering during the day.

Despite this, there are significant areas which are turning brown. In areas of foot traffic this will cause excess wear, and with little regrowth at the moment, will lead to bare or tight lies and even slower recovery.

You can make an impact on the situation by doing the following:

• Use the paths
• Don’t take trolleys and buggies near the collars of the greens and between bunkers and greens.
• Try to keep trolleys and buggies at least 5 metres away from greens
• Use the seed boxes to repair divots on the Par 3’s

And either pray for rain or do a rain dance!

Thank you for your cooperation.
