Scratch Team Wins East Cheshire Scratch League

"Prestbury Golf Club's Scratch team have won the 2011 East Cheshire Scratch Premier League title for the second consecutive year. Having retained the Premier League title with one match remaining the Champions hosted relegation threatened Hazel Grove in the final match. The match was halved which was enough to secure Hazel Grove premiership status for a further season. Tytherington were deserved runners up but unfortunately Disley and Ringway finished bottom resulting in their relegation to Division 1. Stockport and Reddish Vale secured promotion from Division 1 to the Premier League.

The Prestbury team was captained by Simon Bolam who was also the Premier League player of the year winning all of his 7 matches.

The Club's youth policy was evident once again this year with strong performances from a number of talented Juniors including England and Cheshire star James Newton, current Junior Captain Dan Young, Josh Garside and Joe Armitt. In addition Prestbury were represented throughout the season by Dan Osbaldeston, Andy Greenhalgh, Lee Charnley, Joe Joyce, Dave Wood, Ian Johnson, Nigel Naden and George Senior."
